This drawer contain papers related to several different transactions apparently in Boston and not related to properties in Northeast Harbor. It also includes correspondence from Curtis to Mr. Wheelwright, dated July 14, 1902, related to the cost and properties of an acre of land along the east shore of Northeast Harbor. Pressed board with brass handles. Originally found stacked on shelf next to bookcase in study at Thuya Lodge. Removed from the Lodge and taken to the Preserve offices for storing. Probably used to store various papers and records by Joseph Curtis. |

Box contains records, correspondence, mortgage deed, and notes related to Charles Lewando, Cambridge, MA. Much of the records are 1870-1877. It appears from these records that Curtis was the executor of the estate of Lewando who died in 1877. It is thought that perhaps Lewando is related to the future wife of Curtis, Amelie Lewandoska. This needs to be researched and verified. Originally found stacked on shelf next to bookcase in study at Thuya Lodge. Removed from the Lodge and taken to the Preserve offices for storing. Probably used to store various papers and records by Joseph Curtis. |

Signature on the receipts is Joseph McDonald. Box also includes correspondence from H.T. Whitman that outlines the source of a check to Joseph Curtis that is included with the correspondence. Box includes a set of alphabetically labelled dividers that are attached to the inside of the box spine. This box was one of seven found on the shelves of the Study, Thuya Lodge. | Letter storage box Wood with leather spine Handles broken and leather cracked One of eight A brown hinged storage box, labelled "Letters" on the spine. Outside of box includes a small paper label. Contents of box are cancelled checks in envelopes, by month, for months during the years 1908 and 1909. This box was one of seven found on the shelves of the Study, Thuya Lodge. The box was removed from the Lodge and taken to the Preserve office for storage in 2012. The box is hinged on two edges. The front cover and one side of the box open on the hinges. There is a small metal clasp on the front cover and the hinged side. |
