Stephen Smallidge and his wife. He was for many years postmaster at Northeast Harbor. They were in all respects fine people and worthy citizens. They are sitting in one of the old pews which had once been in use in the log church, St. Mary's-by-the-Sea, and afterwards discarded when chairs were substituted.
