A set of letters and notes related to the possible purchase of land owned by the Eliot family that is adjacent to the Asticou Terraces Trust property left by the curtis estate. Correspondence is from Savage to Thomas Eliot and others. It refers to other Eliot family members and their concerns and interests in the land. It is thought that this is the land that was later purchased (1954) by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and then gifted to the Asticou Terraces Trust.

This correspondence was probably initiated by Tom Hall to get a baseline assessment of a professional on ways to revitalize and shape the future of the azalea garden during a time when it was in poor repair. Don Coates was Trustee of the Asticou Terraces Trust at the time and there was a managment agreement with the Trust for the upkeep of the garden. shortly after this, the first gardener, Amy Davis, was hired to take care of the garden under the guidance of Hall and a committee.
