| Merritt Thompson Ober (1864-1935). Mr. Ober was a prominent business man in Northeast Harbor for over forty-one years during which he owned and operated "Ober's Market". He owned the "Sorrento House" in Sorrento and and lumber business at Pretty Marsh. For twenty years he served the Town of Mount Desert as Treasurer and Tax Collector (see Item 8422, Photo 17 for more information). His granddaughter, Mrs. Ruth Chase Mitchell, Kindly provided a series of albums and photographs depicting Merritt T.
